Almost always. Some complaints (like no heat or hot water) are treated very aggressively, and the city may issue an immediate violation, giving you a limited time to correct the issue. You can generally avoid a penalty by fixing the problem within the prescribed timeframe.
As well, some violations are issued because of court orders, non-compliance with local laws or city programs, or other reasons. HPD Alerts can’t prevent that from happening, but we can give you a heads-up so you have more time to fix it.
